History of Faculty
Under the 10th Higher Education Development Plan of the King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), the Department of Industrial Art Technology which used to be one department under the College of Industrial Technology, was upgraded to the Faculty of Architecture and Design. The development of this faculty is as follows:
1979: The Department of Construction and Woodworking under the College of Industrial Technology offered Diploma certificate courses on Furniture and Decoration.
1993: Two Bachelor Degree Programs on Industry (2-3 Year Program) were then added i.e. the Furniture and Interior Decoration Technology Program, and the Ceramic Technology Program.
2001-2004: Two Bachelor Degree Programs on Arts (4 Year Program) were then added i.e. the Interior Design Program, and the Ceramic Design Program
Presently, The Department of Industrial Arts Technology offers two more programs i.e. the Applied Arts and Product Design Program and the Architecture Program. These two programs have been included since the School Year 1/2011.
The various offered programs and courses emphasize the importance of art and architectural design. The application of technology to create graduates that satisfy the needs of society, labor market, and firms are among the highest concerns. The ability to gain an income, create a career, and integrate knowledge are the final goals of each student.
The development of the faculty, from the past up to present day, focuses on philosophy with vision to create and develop manpower with academic and professional abilities to enrich society. This could only be achieved by competent and efficient management of departments. Therefore, the establishment of the Faculty of Architecture and Design was approved by the university council on February 10th, 2010 (by 1/2010 meeting agenda).
